If you haven’t yet visited the Alexandria Black History Museum, now is the time to connect with this important cultural resource. The museum boasts an impressive collection of important artifacts, paintings, and special exhibits to appreciate the diversity of the African American experience.
Be sure to visit the Watson Reading Room next door to the museum for more extensive reading on a variety of topics, and for the superb Story Time for Little Historians program where children ages 3 to 6 can participate in cultural stories and crafts. With Kwanzaa drawing near, the Alexandria Black History Museum has several workshops on how best to celebrate this important holiday.
The Alexandria Black History Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and suggested admission price is just $2 per person to help sustain the goals and mission of the institution. Group tours are also available, and the Story Time for Little Historians program runs every first Saturday of the month. Don’t miss this valuable experience right here in Alexandria.
