For over 15 years, Vermilion in Old Town Alexandria has built a reputation on its charming, comfortable atmosphere that bridges the gap between neighborhood haunt and destination dining. The menu here is always carefully crafted, but in celebration of Valentine’s Day, chef Thomas Cardarelli is offering a custom prix fixe four-course tasting menu for $95.
If you like, you can add carefully considered wine pairings for an additional $28. You’ll choose from three options with each course, with accommodations for vegetarians and dietary restrictions. For starters, choose from oysters, steak tartare, or a beet salad, then follow it up with pasta, foie gras, or potato leek soup. The entree course features local black bass with butternut squash veloute, New York strip with trumpet mushrooms, or Elysian fields leg of lamb with sunchokes and black olive. You’ll finish the meal with an assortment of desserts, and the satisfaction of enjoying an exquisite meal. Reservations are strongly recommended, and can be made only by telephone.
