New Year’s Eve is known for the extravagant parties, staying out late celebrating and welcoming the new year with open arms. The only thing missing is a family-friendly alternative, close to home. First Night Alexandria fills the gap. This event is completely alcohol free and children under 12 years old have free admission. Active military are also welcome to enjoy the interactive experience without having to purchase a ticket.
The event is helping families celebrate the New Year through the performing arts and broaden their cultural understanding and experience. First night celebrations have become increasingly more popular over the past several years because of the impact they leave on those who attend. There will be over 100 musical performances of several different genres all within walking distance from each other. Local businesses will be hosting these artists for you to enjoy their craft. If you’re unable to make the event but still want to show your support you can make a donation on their website. After midnight, there will be a firework show on the Potomac River!
